Mapping the H: Drive Manually on a PC

These instructions may be used by any Lehigh users living off-campus who are connecting to the Lehigh network via the Lehigh VPN. For students who are participating in WIRED, a custom login has been written to map the H: drive for Windows users. Please visit the WIRED Home Page for more information.

Windows Interface Method

  1. Right-Click on your "My Computer" icon and choose Map Network Drive

  2. Select your H: drive and fill in the folder name as described below:
    • Type \\{server}.cc.lehigh.edu\{group}\{username} substituting {server}, {group}, and {username} based on the criteria in the following table:
      If your username begins with:
      A - H
      Replace {server} below with Home10 and {group} with A-H
      I - L
      Replace {server} below with Home11 and {group} with I-L
      M - Z
      Replace {server} below with Home12 and {group} with M-Z
    • Example: If your username is abc0, so {server} is home10 and {group} is A-H, then the folder would be \\home10.cc.lehigh.edu\A-H\abc0.
  3. Check the box for Reconnect at logon.

  4. Click Finish.
  5. If prompted for a password, enter AD\{userid} and your password.

Command Line Method

  1. Open a Command Window ( Start | Run | "CMD" )
  2. In the command window, type in the following command described below (spacing is important):
    • Type net use h: \\{server}.cc.lehigh.edu\{group}\abc0 /user:AD\{username} /persistent:yes substituting {server}, {group}, and {username} based on the criteria in the following table:
      If your username begins with:
      A - H
      Replace {server} below with Home10 and {group} with A-H
      I - L
      Replace {server} below with Home11 and {group} with I-L
      M - Z
      Replace {server} below with Home12 and {group} with M-Z
    • Example: If your username is abc0, so {server} is Home10 and {group} is A-H, then the command would be net use h: \\Home10.cc.lehigh.edu\A-H\abc0 /user:AD\abc0 /persistent:yes.
    • NOTE: You will be prompted for your password when making the connection.
  3. When you have mapped your H: drive, you can close the CMD window by typing exit at the command prompt.
