Mapping the I: Drive Manually on a Mac

Only Lehigh faculty & staff should the map the I: drive. Because network space for each department is unique, you will need the path to where your department's data is stored in order to complete these instructions. If you are unsure about your path, consult your department's computing consultant.

  1. From the Finder, hit Command+K

  2. In the Server Address field, type the following: cifs://{ul_group}/{group} with {ul_group} and {group} corresponding to your own personal user information based on the criteria below:

    {ul_group} Choices: A-S, ADM, ATHLETICS, BUS, EDU, ENG, IR

    {group} Choices: Click HERE to see a listing of groups and schedule of department I: drive moves to Active Directory.

    Example: If you are in the Journalism department ...
    Replace {ul_group} with A-S and {group} with JOURNALISM

    Connect to Server

  3. Click 'Connect'

  4. Enter your login credentials and click “OK”. Your drive is now mapped. The following instructions will allow your computer to remount the mapped drive after every reboot.

  5. Now enter into System Preferences, from the Apple menu

  6. Click on ‘Users & Groups’ (in older versions of the OS, this may be 'Accounts')

  7. Click on “Login Items”

  8. Click on the + button to add another login item

  9. Locate the network drive you previously mounted and click “Add”

  10. Exit out of System Preferences
