Mapping the I: Drive Manually on a PC

Only Lehigh faculty & staff should the map the I: drive. Because network space for each department is unique, you will need the path to where your department's data is stored in order to complete these instructions. If you are unsure about your path, consult your department's computing consultant.

COMMAND LINE METHOD

In the command window, type in the following command (spacing is important):

net use i: \\common.cc.lehigh.edu\Common\{ul_group}\{group} /user:AD\{username}

Use the information below to replace {ul_group} and {group} with the appropriate names based on your department.

Upper Level Group Choices: A-S, ADM, ATHLETICS, BUS, EDU, ENG, IR

Group Choices: Use the listing of groups choices to select the appropriate group.

Example: If you are in the Journalism department ...
Replace {ul_group} with A-S and {group} with JOURNALISM

When you have mapped your I: drive, you can close the CMD window by typing exit at the command prompt.

WINDOWS INTERFACE METHOD

  1. Right-Click on your "My Computer" icon. and choose Map Network Drive ...

  2. Select your I: drive and fill in the folder name \\common.cc.lehigh.edu\common\{ul_group}\{group} using the information in the table above to replace {ul_group} and {group} with the appropriate names based on your department.

  3. Check the box for Reconnect at logon.

  4. Mapping I drive


  5. Click Finish.

  6. If prompted for a password, enter AD\{userid} and your password.
