Mapping the J: Drive for Banner Manually

Only Lehigh faculty & staff should map the J: drive when access is needed for Banner applications.

Windows Instructions

Command Line Method

In the command window, type in the following command (spacing is important)

net use j: \\\banner /user:AD\{username}

When you have mapped your J: drive, you can close the CMD window by typing exit at the command prompt.

Windows Interface Method

  1. Right-Click on your "My Computer" icon. and choose Map Network Drive ...

  2. Select your J: drive and fill in the folder name \\\banner
  3. Check the box for Reconnect at logon.

  4. Click Finish.

  5. If prompted for a password, enter AD\{userid} and your password.

Mac Instructions

  1. From the Finder, hit Command+K

  2. In the Server Address field, type the following: cifs://{username} with {username} corresponding to your own Lehigh user ID.

    Connect to J drive

  3. Click 'Connect'

  4. Enter your login credentials and click “OK”. Your drive is now mapped. The following instructions will allow your computer to remount the mapped drive after every reboot.

  5. Now enter into System Preferences, from the Apple menu

  6. Click on ‘Users & Groups’ (in older versions of the OS, this may be 'Accounts')

  7. Click on “Login Items”

  8. Click on the + button to add another login item

  9. Locate the network drive you previously mounted and click “Add”

  10. Exit out of System Preferences
