Design and develop software services and systems in Java and related technologies for the Kuali OLE project; produce documentation for technical experts and functional experts
Design databases and data messages exchanged among systems based on evolving standards in the domain; develop testing infrastructure and ensure quality assurance testing is performed
Work both independently as a senior technical leader/developer on system-critical modules and as a team member on sets of deliverables involving technical partners and domain subject matter experts
Participate in technology evaluation, selection, and implementation of software solutions for library environment; install, configure, and administer test and development servers used in technology evaluation and development
Perform business process analysis in existing libraries, as well as system analysis for existing software systems; stay current on library and technology publications detailing research and implementation of library technology
Model, design, and develop Web Services, service wrappers, service interfaces, APIs, and messaging systems for library environment; develop code using newly-created, native-system, or enterprise service bus technologies
Develop modules for collection management SOA-based platform

Degree in Computer Science or related field of study and/or equivalent experience/training
Three to five years experience in a technical role in the design and development of database-driven web applications characterized by: complex domain requirements, large system integration, transactional and reporting functions, service-oriented architecture (analysis, modeling, and design)
Advanced knowledge and skills in Java and Java-based frameworks
Advanced skills with web application frameworks, technologies, and languages such as Ruby-on-Rails, Ajax/jQuery, and relational databases (preferably MySQL)
Experience with Web Services, REST, SOAP or equivalent
Experience with enterprise service bus technologies
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines
Experience working with libraries, archives, higher education institutions desirable
Good understanding of issues around metadata, semantics, and ontology
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
