LTS' connection to the Pennsylvania Research and Education Network (PennREN) is fully operational. Lehigh is now positioned to achieve up to 10Gbps connectivity to the network. Lehigh's participation in the PennREN project is the result of a February 2010 U.S. Department of Commerce announcement that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania received $99.6 million to build a high-speed state-wide network for research and education. The grant was supplemented with an additional $29 million in private investment... read more

In collaboration with the Friends, The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning will oversee the Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellowship program... read more

LTS Computing Cluster Stimulates Mechanical Engineering Research

Edmund Webb III joined the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Department as an Associate Professor in fall 2010. His group, including four Ph.D. students, is focused on simulating systems that explore thermomechanical properties at material interfaces. To ensure that his simulations would have the required computational capacity to support research goals, Professor Webb made a significant investment in the University's flagship computing cluster, Corona. This cluster, containing over 1000 CPU cores (AMD Opteron 6128) distributed over 64 separate compute nodes, supports research computing for the university community... read more

Lehigh Students Transition to Gmail

Lehigh students will transition to Lehigh Gmail by the beginning of the spring 2014 semester. This move meets the demand for an easy-to-use, secure, feature-rich email service with expanded storage capabilities. Lehigh Gmail replaces Lehigh Webmail (IMP), an open source email system Lehigh has used for over ten years. The Student Senate and Graduate Student Senate have endorsed this transition and approximately 1,200 students have already transitioned to Lehigh Gmail... read more
