Computer Purchase & Repair

While the purchase of a new computer often coincides with starting school, your personal computer is likely to be used for much more than just school-related purposes. There are some important considerations to keep in mind when purchasing a new computer for use at Lehigh; however, the general rule-of-thumb is to buy a computer that fits your needs/wants for personal use that meets the minimum recommended specifications for use at Lehigh.

While WIRED provides support with any student-owned computer, regardless of brand or model, the hardware department is only certified to repair certain brands/models. Lehigh works with these recommended vendors to maintain custom online stores for Lehigh students which offer specific models and bundles that can be serviced by our hardware technicians on campus. Below are the most important questions to ask yourself before ultimately making your computer purchase.

About WIRED

The WIRED Program at Lehigh provides technical support, troubleshooting, and consulting services for students and their personal computers at Lehigh. From simple wireless setup and assistance with Lehigh online services to virus removal and software reinstallation to hardware repair referrals and everything in between, WIRED is the first place for students to find help. In addition to two full-time staff, WIRED employs, trains, and manages a fully-capable team of student consultants that provide assistance at the WIRED desk as well as on-site support for students living on-campus.
